Shop / Fraud

Used to be one could try to save money by not going out to shop. Nowadays, with online shopping, it's even harder to avoid. But when you have to you, you have to. Bought Proactive for teen son and some pants from Lee. An hour later Chase Bank's fraud Department called me on my cell to make sure I authorized the purchases.....I wonder what the "flag" was. But I thought it was pretty cool that my account is monitored like that......feels like you left the virtual store with the security tag on your item and the alarm went off hahaha.

    They've been calling me also. They accepted my hotel bill charge only after I called them (I drove into Canada for a two-day trip). It turns out that if you go into you credit card online account, you can adjust the contact parameters - when or a dollar limit, etc.

    I like it, I think. I liked it better than WaMu's attitude. When I alerted them that I'll be out of the country, their response was: so?

    Chase saved me from some serious fraud problems by calling me. Someone had copied my card at a restaurant and went on a spending spree. They only got through 2 charges before Chase stopped the card & called me.

    The security is great and offers some insurance against fraud... unless they make an error. We are living overseas, and have been for about 2 years now. This past week I was taking out some money for our rent, and suddenly my ATM card was useless at any ATM! Somehow Bank of America suddenly decided that a transaction overseas was "suspicious" although we have been here for a long time. So yeah, that leads to some headaches, but apparently notes on an account can automatically expire after 6 months, so we need to call and remind them periodically that we are still overseas. Still, I'm glad that they are paying attention!
